There's no place like Branson to get in the mood for Christmas! Almost every show in Branson features a Christmas show, with most attractions also offering special holiday themed fun. The town is decorated from the top to the bottom, and you can hear your favorite holiday tunes everywhere. In fact, Branson liked Christmas so much that they created a 5th season: Ozark Mountain Christmas!
It used to be that Christmas didn't start here until Andy Williams, "Mr. Christmas" himself, kicked the season off. Sadly, Andy is no longer with us, but his wonderful Christmas show lives on at the Moon River Theatre, featuring the Osmonds and the Lennon Sisters. There is a special tribute to Andy in the show, and you'll enjoy the same lavish productions that you loved when watching "The Andy Williams Christmas Show" on TV. This is a show not to be missed!
Of course, Christmas in Branson is incomplete without seeing the Hughes Brothers Christmas Show. Since the early 90's, people have made sure to include this big family show in their vacation plans. Just FYI - The Hughes Brothers are the largest performing family in the U.S.! The Hughes Brothers, their talented wives, and all of their children are in the show. You'll see great dance segments, hear sweet family harmonies and experience the joy of Christmas in this unique production. You'll also see Santa in a new light, as he brings a special meaning to Christmas. And as a personal note, be sure and pick up some of Mama Hughes' Pepparkakor cookies from the gift shop. They are made from Mama Hughes' own recipe, and I can tell you from experience, they are delicious and highly addictive!
There are so many Christmas shows in Branson that we can't mention them all! And just so you know - be sure and book your Christmas show tickets early, as most theatres sell out during this season. Of course, you can't have Christmas in Branson without talking about Silver Dollar City. Do you like Christmas lights? Miles and miles and over 5 million of them? If so, Silver Dollar City is the place for you. Imagine a village where every house and building is lit by twinkling lights, every tree, every bush, every walkway, well....everything is covered in lights! You can shop to your heart's content here, see Christmas shows, and sample all of the wonderful holiday food. Be sure and get hot chocolate to talk on your stroll through the park, or wassail if that is your preference. Nibble on red velvet funnel cakes, hot apple dumpling and cinnamon ice cream, or have a holiday sit-down feast at the Prine Rib Buffet! I would advise to go after 5:00 pm so you can see all of the lights. New this year is Rudolph's Holly Jolly Christmas Light Parade. Take this kids, it's an experience they won't forget! Also, over 30+ thrilling rides and attractions remain open during this time.
You can see why Branson is voted one of the Top 5 Christmas Destinations in the United States! It is truly one of those things that just has to be seen to be believed. And once you see it, you'll want to come back each year, as it is constantly changing.
